Journey through the mountain’s interior to stunning views

Embark on this remarkable Alpine adventure begins when you step on-board the funicular in Zermatt and enjoy the 4.5-minute excursion to Sunnegga. This unique journey takes you up a rock tunnel directly through the mountain’s interior and leads you to a scenic terrace with striking views of the Matterhorn. Enjoy year-round recreation at Sunnegga like Leisee lake for an outdoor swim, a fantastic playground for children, and even a barbecue area to create a memorable meal. Discover the marmot theme trail with the opportunity to see them in action with marmot-watching station just a few minutes’ walk away, you’ll quickly fall in love with these squirrel-like creatures as they roam their natural habitat. Skiers of all ages can enjoy their first sensations of sliding on snow at Wolli’s park for beginners, available to travelers in the winter months. Hop on the gondola and travel 7 minutes from Sunnegga to Blauherd where you’ll connect to a second gondola that will carry you to the top of Mount Rothorn. Explore the spectacular surroundings as you stroll around. Dedicate some time to admiring the Peak Collection, this is an outdoor exhibition of 18 sculptures, each featuring written stories and images. As you might expect, the sought after focal point of this excursion is the amazing views of the mountains that surround you – the highlight being the impressive Matterhorn.
