Overview

What’s the best way to travel around the largest country in Southeast Europe ? How about the way the Romanians do : by train ! The Eurail Romania Pass gives you extensive first class travel offering additional discounts for Seniors, Youth and saver pass discounts for 2 or more traveling together on the national rail network of Romania, with your choice of 3, 4, 5 or 8 days of rail travel to be used within a one-month period.

It’s hard to imagine the relaxation of not having to deal with foreign road signs, gas prices or airports. Or not fumbling with unfamiliar currency or conversion rates on line at a local ticket counter. Instead, you can just take the train to Bucharest ; whose nickname is “Paris of the East,” foretelling its high style. This center of Romanian cultural life is a mixture of historical, communist-era and modern architecture. Tour the Museum of the Romanian Peasant, once declared European Museum of the Year, to enjoy displays of native costumes, icons, ceramics, and other artifacts of Romanian peasant life. Even the former royal palace has become an art museum : The National Museum of Art of Romania.

Outside of Bucharest, trains in Romania allow you to experience the folklore and traditions of the region up close. Use your rail pass to reach the Riviera of the Black Sea or travel to the middle of Romania to visit one of its many exquisite forests and mountain ranges. Of course, there’s Bran Castle, built in 1212 (better known as Dracula’s home), a must-see destination. Speaking of things that lurk in the dark, you’ll find the Eurail Romania Pass has 24-hour powers itself, offering additional travel discounts at select vampire-free hotels. Hmmm, tasty.
